How Foglift Uses PageSpeed Under the Hood
Foglift actually uses the Google PageSpeed Insights API as part of its scan engine. When you scan a URL on Foglift, we pull Core Web Vitals data from PageSpeed and combine it with our own checks for SEO, GEO, security, and accessibility.
This means you get the same performance data you'd see on PageSpeed Insights, plus five additional dimensions that PageSpeed doesn't cover:
SEO Score
Title tags, meta descriptions, headings, canonical URLs, structured data
GEO Score
AI crawler access, citation formatting, FAQ detection, entity markup
Security Grade
HSTS, CSP, X-Frame-Options, Referrer-Policy, Permissions-Policy
Why GEO Matters in 2026
In 2026, AI-powered search engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews) drive an increasingly large share of web traffic. PageSpeed Insights was built before this shift — it has no way to check if your site is optimized for AI citation.
Foglift's GEO score fills this gap. It checks whether AI crawlers can access your site, whether your content is structured for extraction, and whether your meta tags are descriptive enough for AI summarization. This is the fastest-growing dimension of website optimization, and it's completely invisible to PageSpeed Insights.
The Bottom Line
PageSpeed Insights is the gold standard for performance testing. Foglift is its complement — use both. Run PageSpeed for deep performance diagnostics and field data, then run Foglift for the SEO, GEO, and security dimensions that PageSpeed doesn't touch.
